GLIDE Website Refresh & Improvements

The GLIDE website, home to one of San Francisco’s most iconic social justice institutions, had become outdated and difficult to manage. With multiple audiences—from unhoused individuals looking for help, to donors, volunteers, and staff—its web presence needed to be clear, mobile-friendly, and reflective of the organization's values. I played a central role in both the initial relaunch in 2018 and a major refresh in 2020, aligning content, design, and function with the community’s evolving needs.

My Role:

• Member of the cross-departmental web strategy group

• Project manager and art director for the 2020 refresh

• Liaison with external vendors Toi and IskPro

• Self-taught developer for PHP-based WordPress customizations

Key Deliverables & Outcomes

• New site architecture, templates, and mobile-first design

• Expanded content templates including emergency COVID rapid response pages built with PHP variables and WordPress custom fields

• Updated navigation, donation pages, and backend user experience

Impact

• Streamlined content editing for non-technical staff

• Dramatically improved mobile performance and navigation

• Enabled up-to-minute messaging during uncertain national emergency
